Hovinsholmen by Morgan-Lou Hovinsholmen by Morgan-Lou
Location: Hovinsholmen, Lake Mjsa, Norway.

That is where the old vikings did their offerings (sacrifices) to their gods. Hovinsholmen is ancient Norwegian language for "the islet with a meadow where you do sacrifices for the gods".

It looks like a beautiful and peaceful place, it is hard to imagine its past.

Indeed youre right, it is very peaceful nowadays. People come with their boats in the summertime and camp for the night when it is getting too hot on the mainland :)

Yes, all you need is a small boat to get there as the lake has risen by now. In the wintertime, you can walk on the frozen lake... Its a special place I particularly affectionate.

i'm a photographer to but its in our era the whole process thing..
it doesn't mean you are not a photographer if you try it..
although you may process a photo it won't make you a better or a worst photographer.

Sorry but as I said earlier it is not my style of photography. I am not sure whether or not you understand that.

This is beautiful, and I love the story behind it! My ancestors were Vikings...it's always interesting to think about how this place would've been significant to them.

Makes me think a decent bit of the lake near where I live. I think it is mostly the mountains in the back ground.

Brilliant story to this deviation. The photo is crisp and in good focus. Color is good. I have one question for you. Is the water table of this site always this low?

Actually, the water of this lake (Mjsa) is rising in the spring time and reaches its peak in July when you wont see any rocks at all when the snow thaws in the mountains. In winter, you can walk to the islet. In the summer, we need a boat if we want to camp in the islet. In this photo, which was taken a few days ago, we barely could reach the islet by foot: I wanted to show the dynamic of the flooding :)

Thank you for your response. I love history in the past and present and climactic changes.Watching weather events around the world. The world is changing before us and what will happen in the near future.

Actually, these seasonal flood is not related to the climatic changes. They supposedly have had this flood every spring since ages (due to the natural snow and ice melting). Lots of water is used during winter time for other purposes. Therefore, during winter we can walk to the islet because there is almost no water around. :)

Brilliant photo, although I think you need to crop the photo on the left hand side, so the island is in the centre.
